The Story of Prophet Yusuf (A.S.) in English

The story of Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon) him is one of the most beautiful and inspiring narratives in the Quran. It is mentioned in Surah Yusuf (Chapter 12), which describes his journey from hardship to honor through faith and patience.

Childhood and Dream:

Prophet Yusuf (A.S.) was the son of Prophet Yaqub (A.S.). As a child, he had a dream in which the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were prostrating to him. When he told his father about this dream, Yaqub (A.S.) understood that Yusuf (A.S.) would be granted great honor in the future. However, he warned him not to share the dream with his brothers, as they might become jealous and harm him.

The Plot of His Brothers and Being Thrown into a Well:

Yusuf’s (A.S.) eleven brothers were envious of him. They conspired to get rid of him, either by killing him or abandoning him. One day, they took him out with the pretext of playing and threw him into a deep well. They then returned to their father with a false story, claiming that a wolf had devoured Yusuf (A.S.).

Sold as a Slave and Taken to the Royal Palace in Egypt:

A passing caravan rescued Yusuf (A.S.) from the well and sold him as a slave in Egypt. He was bought by a high-ranking Egyptian official. The official’s wife, Zulaykha, became infatuated with Yusuf (A.S.) and tried to tempt him into sin. However, he refused out of fear of Allah. Zulaykha, in anger, falsely accused him, and as a result, he was imprisoned.

Interpreting Dreams and Rising to Power:

While in prison, Yusuf (A.S.) interpreted the dreams of two fellow prisoners, and his interpretations came true. Later, the king of Egypt had a troubling dream that no one could explain. Yusuf (A.S.) was called upon, and he interpreted it as a sign that Egypt would experience seven years of abundant harvest followed by seven years of severe famine. Impressed by his wisdom, the king released him and appointed him as the chief minister in charge of Egypt’s resources.

Reunion with His Family and Forgiveness:

During the famine, Yusuf’s (A.S.) brothers traveled to Egypt to obtain food. He recognized them but did not reveal his identity. Eventually, he disclosed who he was and forgave them for their past betrayal. Later, his father, Yaqub (A.S.), was also brought to Egypt. His childhood dream was fulfilled when his parents and brothers bowed before him in respect, signifying his elevated status.

Lessons from the Story:

Patience and Faith: No matter how difficult the situation, trust in Allah brings ultimate success.

Forgiveness: Instead of seeking revenge, it is better to forgive and show kindness.

Honesty and Integrity: Staying truthful and righteous leads to great rewards.

This is one of the most beautiful stories in the Quran, teaching us about patience, morality, and unwavering faith in Allah.
