The Life Story of Prophet Harun (A.S.) in Islam
Prophet Harun (A.S.) was a highly respected prophet in Islam and the elder brother of Prophet Musa (A.S.). He was given the responsibility of guiding the Israelites (Banu Isra’il) and is mentioned multiple times in the Qur’an and Hadith.
Birth and Family:
Prophet Harun (A.S.) belonged to the Banu Isra’il and was the son of Imran. His younger brother, Prophet Musa (A.S.), was one of the greatest prophets who received the Torah from Allah.
Prophethood:
When Allah commanded Prophet Musa (A.S.) to go to Pharaoh and call him to the truth, Musa (A.S.) expressed concern about his ability to speak eloquently. He requested Allah to appoint his brother Harun (A.S.) as his helper. Allah accepted this request and granted Harun (A.S.) the status of a prophet.
Invitation to Pharaoh’s Court:
Prophet Musa (A.S.) and Prophet Harun (A.S.) went together to Pharaoh, inviting him to believe in Allah. However, Pharaoh, in his arrogance, rejected their message and instead claimed to be a god.
Guiding the Israelites:
After showing miraculous signs from Allah, Musa (A.S.) and Harun (A.S.) led the Israelites out of Egypt as per Allah’s command. However, the Israelites repeatedly disobeyed divine guidance.
The Golden Calf Incident:
When Musa (A.S.) went to Mount Tur to receive revelation from Allah, a man named Samiri misled the Israelites and convinced them to worship a golden calf. Prophet Harun (A.S.) tried his best to stop them, but they refused to listen. When Musa (A.S.) returned, he punished the wrongdoers and expelled Samiri from society.
Death:
Prophet Harun (A.S.) continued his mission faithfully. According to Islamic traditions, he passed away in the Sinai region and was buried there.
Lessons from His Life:
1. The lives of prophets serve as an example for us.
2. We should have complete faith and trust in Allah.
3. Standing against wrongdoing and spreading the truth are noble qualities.
4. Patience and perseverance are key virtues of a believer.
