Virtues of Tashahhud

1. Directly Taught by the Prophet ﷺ
The Tashahhud is part of the prayer and was directly taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his companions, including Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (RA). It carries significant spiritual value as it was instructed by the Messenger of Allah . Acknowledgement of Tawheed (Oneness of Allah)

2. In the Tashahhud, we affirm the Oneness of Allah (Tawheed) and the prophethood of Muhammad ﷺ. This testimony is a cornerstone of Islam.

3. Connection with the Prophet ﷺ and the Righteous
The Tashahhud includes sending peace upon the Prophet ﷺ and the righteous servants of Allah. This signifies the unity of believers and strengthens the bond between them.

4. Acceptance of Dua
Scholars mention that the Tashahhud is one of the most important parts of Salah (prayer). After completing it, the worshipper is encouraged to make personal supplications (dua), as this is a time when duas are more likely to be accepted.

5. Reminder of Responsibility
Saying “Ashhadu alla ilaha illallahu wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa rasuluh” is a constant reminder of a Muslim’s responsibilities toward Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, fostering mindfulness in daily life.
