Tafsir (Exegesis) of Surah As-Saff Ayah 1
Tafsir Ibn Kathir:
This verse declares that everything in the heavens and the earth glorifies Allah. This includes all living beings and inanimate objects. Even though humans may not perceive it, every creation praises and exalts Allah in its own way, as stated in Surah Al-Isra (17:44):
“The seven heavens and the earth and whatever is in them glorify Him, and there is not a thing except that it exalts Him by His praise, but you do not understand their glorification.”
The verse ends by describing Allah with two of His Beautiful Names:
Al-‘Aziz (The Almighty): The One who possesses absolute power and might.
Al-Hakim (The All-Wise): The One who executes every matter with perfect wisdom and justice.
Tafsir Al-Sa‘di:
This verse serves as a reminder that all of creation is in constant submission to Allah’s will. Even those who disbelieve are under Allah’s control and cannot escape His dominion. If everything glorifies Allah, then believers should do so even more consciously and sincerely through their actions, words, and faith.
Key Lessons from the Verse:
1. Everything in existence glorifies Allah, whether we perceive it or not.
2. Allah is Al-‘Aziz (The Almighty), meaning His power is absolute none can overpower Him.
3. Allah is Al-Hakim (The All-Wise), meaning His rulings are based on perfect wisdom.
4. Humans should actively remember and glorify Allah in their daily lives.
