Surah Al-Ikhlas (Chapter 112 of the Quran)
Arabic Text:
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ
اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ
لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ
وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ
Transliteration:
Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Raheem
Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad
Allahu As-Samad
Lam Yalid wa Lam Yoolad
Wa Lam Yakun Lahu Kufuwan Ahad
Translation:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
1. Say: He is Allah, the One.
2. Allah, the Eternal Refuge.
3. He neither begets nor is born.
4. Nor is there to Him any equivalent.
Virtues of Surah Al-Ikhlas
1. Equal to One-Third of the Quran:
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
> “By Him in Whose Hand my life is, it is equal to one-third of the Quran.”
(Sahih Bukhari 5013, Sahih Muslim 811)
2. Earns Love of Allah:
A man recited frequently, saying he loved it because it describes Allah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
> “Your love for it has earned you entry into Paradise.”
(Sahih Bukhari 7375)
3. Protection When Recited:
It is Sunnah to recite Al-Ikhlas with Surah Al-Falaq and An-Naas thrice in the morning and evening for protection from harm.

4. A Key in Prayer:
The Prophet (peace be upon him) instructed that can be recited in every unit (rak’ah) of Salah alongside other Surahs.
Reflection
Surah Al-Ikhlas encapsulates the essence of Islamic monotheism (Tawheed). It emphasizes the uniqueness, self-sufficiency, and incomparability of Allah, making it a cornerstone of faith and worship for Muslims.
