Name and Identity:

Prophet Dhul-Kifl (A.S.) was a noble prophet whose name is mentioned in the Holy Quran. Allah Almighty has mentioned his name in two places:

1. Surah Al-Anbiya:
“And remember Ishmael, Idris, and Dhul-Kifl; all were of the patient ones.” (Surah Al-Anbiya: 85)

2. Surah Sad:
“And remember Ishmael, Elisha, and Dhul-Kifl, and they were all among the best.” (Surah Sad: 48)

Disputes Regarding His Identity:

There are different historical opinions regarding Prophet Dhul-Kifl (A.S.). Some scholars believe he was the son of Prophet Ayyub (A.S.), and his original name was Bishr (بشر). Others suggest he was a prophet who came after Prophet Ilyas (A.S.). However, Islamic tradition recognizes him as a just, patient, and righteous prophet.

Meaning of His Name:

The name “Dhul-Kifl” means “the one with a double reward.” It is said that he was honored by Allah with double blessings and rewards.

He always upheld justice among people.

According to Hadith and Tafsir, he never became angry and was steadfast in establishing justice.

There is no specific information regarding the place or time of his death. However, various historical sources suggest that he passed away peacefully and was honored by Allah.
